Thunder from Down Under

Published by Anna under News

Okay so the title of this blog entry really doesn’t say much about what I’m going to write about, but it got your attention right? :)

We’re ecstatic to announce that Rattle Me has made it’s way into Australia! That’s right folks… We’ve gone international and we couldn’t be happier! We’ve been so blessed with so many opportunities! We truly believe that if you have faith and passion for something, everything will fall into place.

Disney on Ice was Riggity-Rad!

Published by Anna under Deep Thoughts, Events

We took the kids to Disney on Ice last night and I have to admit… our expectations were a bit low. Not ‘cuz we didn’t think Disney could pull off a good show, but because the last few shows we attended (Barnum & Bailey Circus included) were pretty weak. But I have to say… we loved this show! Except for a slow story line right after intermission that lasted about 15 minutes, the show was fun, engaging and exciting the rest of the way through.

It doesn’t take a lot to make a great show. Sometimes all the bells and whistles don’t add up, you know? Disney kept this show simple, straighforward and included all our favorite characters including the Mickey Mouse gang, Incredibles, Aladdin and Nemo. I would have liked to see Donald and Daisy a bit more, but that’s more personal preference than anything else.

So kudos to the Disney on Ice show! You rocked it out and we had a fabulous time!

Capsule SF – Another Great Time

Published by Anna under Events

Thank you for everyone who attended Capsule SF in Hayes Valley this past Sunday! It was another great show.

So many of our fabulous friends were there including New Skool, Sugar Pie Bebe, Chicks & Frogs, Wells and our dear neighbor (and hookup for the show), Nise’s Pieces.

There were so many great local designers that I wish we had enough time to peruse them all, but we’ll be back for the next one, so we’ll make sure to save time for you all then!

Next Capsule event details to come!

Great Reads

Published by Anna under Deep Thoughts

There was a time when I read at least a book a week. I mean deep reads like President Clinton’s memoir or The Da Vinci Code.

Nowadays I’m lucky if I can get through a book a month and I for sure keep things a lot lighter. I have enough thinking and problem solving to do! So I escape these days with light-hearted, funny and romantic fiction books. Here are a few of my favorite authors and books:

Sophie Kinsella Shopaholic Books – Always funny and engaging!

Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella – By far my favorite of her books (and I love all of them so that’s saying a lot)!

Something Borrowed by Mary Giffin – I read the first page and I was completely hooked! I read the book in one sitting (much to my husband’s annoyance).

Anything in the Chicken Soup collection – Heartwarming and always, always makes me cry!

In my ideal world, I would be reading a lot more… But for now, I’ll take what I can get. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

What’s a Girl To Do?

Published by Anna under Deep Thoughts

Work without a computer is like a grilled cheese sandwich without the cheese… And the grill!

I’m writing about a current pain point. I work for an online company… One that requires a computer. My computer has decided to take a sick day and is getting checked out by the doctors (IT department) now. So what’s a girl to do?

I can:
A. Leave and go shopping… Maybe no one will notice!
B. Go bug people in the office to talk to me.
C. Sit here and blog on my iPhone.

The answer is obvious… blog it out! Thank goodness for Apple technology!

PS. Option 1 was actually my first choice but I think dear hubby might have had a problem with it!

To Minivan or Not to Minivan… That is the Question

Published by Anna under Deep Thoughts

So we are in need of a second car. We both work in the same city, but when you have kids, you have to be easily accessible at all times and have the ability to get to your kids in a second’s notice without worrying about how you’re going to get there. At least that’s our reasoning behind it. (we don’t live in SF so public transportation is not much of an option).

Anyways our dilemma now is what kind of car should we get? Should we:

A. Get a cheap, but new commuter car that will get us to point A and point B. It’ll be cheaper, but tight for the kids and won’t be useful at all when we have baby number three. (no, were not preggers… Just looking into the future).

B. Get a cheap, janky car for a couple thousand (hubby’s idea) and HOPE it gets us to point A and B without breaking down. Okay, I’m exagerating a little, but I’ve had an old car and maintenance and repair is such a pain!

Or
C. Suck it up and get a minivan.

Yes, a minivan. I’ve thoroughly convinced myself that you can still be cool in a minivan. 6 months ago, I could give you a long list of reasons why a minivan is so uncool…soccer mom-looking, two-lane taking, window decal posting (okay a have decals on our car now) minivan.

But attention all cool moms out there, the days of the big bulky mini-bus on wheels are long gone and the new minivans have all the bells and whistles any kid could ask for! I’m talking plush leather seats, cup holders galore, DVD systems and a navigation system for your big kid (aka Dad).

So I guess I answered my own question. Door number 3 (c) it is! I’ll just have to keep telling myself that I am still cool and I am still young! A car doesn’t change that!

If you see us cruising by in our new minivan, give us a wave and a holler… That is if you can see me behind the tinted driver’s side window.
